Earthquake Safety
/Do you know how to protect yourself in the event of an earthquake? Earthquakes are sudden and can result in serious injuries to lives and damages to properties. Here at Aquila Real Estate, Inc., we have a plan to help you stay safe by using the drop, cover, and hold method. Check out the ready.gov/earthquakes page so that you can get on with living your best life.
Drop on your hands and knees.
Cover your neck and head with your arms. If there is a table or desk nearby, crawl underneath. It's important to remain bent over or on your knees to protect your vital organs.
If you're under the table or desk, hold on to it with one hand. If the desk or table moves, move with it.
If you’re using a wheelchair, walker or seat make sure you lock the wheels, bend over and protect your head and neck with your arms. Then hold on to your seat. (refer to the image above)
If you’re in a car, pull over and stop. Put your car in park.
If an earthquake starts when you’re in bed, turn face down and cover your neck and head with a pillow.
If you’re outdoors, move away from buildings, trees, signs, powerlines and other hazards. Then drop cover and hold on.
Do not get in a doorway. Many modern home doorways are not strong enough to protect you, it also won’t protect you from flying objects.
Do not run outside.
Thank you.
